Assessing Consumer Preference for Overpackaging Solutions in E-Commerce

The emergence of e-commerce and express delivery services has significantly transformed business operations consumer shopping experience. However, the resulting problem packaging waste, particularly from overpackaging, poses serious challenges to environmental sustainability human health. Existing research proposed many solutions various perspectives, but very few have considered acceptability preference for these proposals. Using value co-creation (VCC) theory, we established a model explore preferences overpackaging solutions. A survey 632 online consumers in Guangzhou Shenzhen was conducted, data were analyzed using SmartPLS software. results show that establishing recycling system, government policy, consumers’ awareness significant positive impact on preference, while combined negative impact. We also found policy plays an intermediary role system preference. Based findings, recommend enterprises establish improve their systems platforms provide alternative options packaging. Also, should play guiding coordinating consumers, among actively be promoted.
